April 8th-13th, 16th & 17th 2016

The worldwide famous Cuban choreographer and dancer Carlos Acosta, first figure of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba, of North American and Italian companies, and last but not least of the Royal Theatre Ballet, is coming to Cuba, now accompanied by his just formed group “Acosta Danza”, with which he wants “to show the Cuban talent”.

The Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso is getting ready to receive the first international performance of the group on April 8th and 9th. This first show will be called Premiére. The 25 dancers of Acosta Danza arrive with new proposals, and with the purpose of breaking with the aesthetics of the traditional ballet. Contemporary and classical choreographies will be performed, like “Majísimo”, “Fauno”, “De punta a cabo”, and classics “Lago de los Cisnes”, and “Carmen”, this last with a version of Acosta himself, based on the novel with the same name by Prosper Mérime, and with music by George Bizet.

April shines with the spring, and The Gran Teatro shows its best with a performance you can’t miss for any reason. Nothing better for ballet lovers than the virtuous Carlos Acosta coming back to the Cuban sceneries.
